Each and every one of us lives with a purpose that shapes our actions, and more importantly, our lives. Once we discover that purpose we begin to work towards implementing the necessary actions needed to shape our lives to align with that same purpose. However, we sometimes forget to be mindful of our intentions as we try to shape our new world. Today, we want to talk about renewing our intentions, in all aspects of our lives.
- Declutter your closet.
There is zero space for items that do not bring you joy. Clean out everything that you don’t wear anymore and choose a generous way to repurpose them. Make space for the items that empower you and make you feel beautiful. Try to make an effort to repurpose an item for every new piece of your purchase, and before even making that purchase stop and think about its practicality (don’t just buy something because it’s on sale, buy it because you need it!).
- Block out the noise.
The concept of perfection is a deceptive impression that shaytan uses to feed on our insecurities of not being good enough to renew our intentions. “What’s the point of wearing hijab if I am never going to be the perfect Muslim?” When you find yourself giving into these thoughts, reflect on them, and take advantage of this time of awakening to use it as a spiritual recharge. You never know, this awakening could possibly take you to a higher level in your faith.
- Eliminate negative energy.
Follow accounts on social media that encourage peaceful and uplifting motions. Release your negative thoughts onto paper (trust us, you’ll find it very therapeutic). Notice and hold tight to the positivity around you, because negative feelings and thoughts always seem to be the thing that holds you back from fulfilling your intentions.
- Humanize yourself.
An internal conflict that we all experience is thinking we are not good enough to move on to the next step. The fact is - none of us are perfect, and we are all prone to making mistakes. Why do we think it’s better to not wear hijab, or continue to not perfect our prayers than to TRY? We were created as humans and naturally, humans fail and make mistakes but it's all a part of the journey that makes us better. Forgive yourself, be merciful to your heart, and allow yourself to grow.
- Do good for others.
There is something special in doing kind acts for others. Not only is it a significant part of our imaan, but it is exactly what keeps us connected to the important things in life. Bringing ease to the world around us purifies our hearts, keeps us humbled and serves as a constant reminder to renew our intentions in all other aspects of our lives.
These are just a few things that come to mind when resetting and purifying our intentions. Befriend Allah and have a conversation with Him to guide you in this process. And with that, we would love to hear what our #VBFamily does to renew their intentions and find peace within themselves.
